Always Go To Every Audition

Always Go To Every Audition

Most careers worth having demand a lot of hard work and effort, and all too often that effort can end in failure.  However, a failure can only last forever if you let it.  If you don’t get what you want, you need to pick yourself back up, regroup, and then find another opportunity to try again.  If your dream is to be a theater actor, then you’re in luck, because there’s always going to be another audition in Philadelphia, PA.

If you’re an aspiring actor, it’s important to attend every audition you can.  Even if you don’t like the production and even if you don’t think you’re a good fit for the play, you can gain things from an audition that make them worth your time.

Your Agent Will Appreciate Your Dedication

Agents and other actor representatives in Philadelphia, PA work hard to find opportunities for you and convince directors to let you audition.  Because of this, it can be very frustrating to them when you decide not to even show up for an audition and try out the role, especially if you agreed to the audition earlier.  Even if something comes up like a family emergency or jury duty, a prerecorded video audition will show that you care enough to try your best, and this will encourage your agent to try their best.

You’ll Get To Know Directors

When you audition for a part, you stand in front of the people who decide who gets what role.  They might not like you for any part in their current play, but they might have something else in the future you’d be perfect for.  By showing up to the “wrong” audition, you have a chance to let the directors who you are and what you can do, and if you impress them they’ll remember you and ask you to come back for a new audition later.

You’ll Gain Experience

Acting is a skill.  So is auditioning.  There’s certainly a lot of overlap, but when you audition you need to learn how to throw yourself into a role at a moment’s notice, show your full acting range in a short amount of time, be polite and courteous even if those around you aren’t, and choose the right material to show yourself off.  Practical experience is some of the best experience you can get, so make the most of every moment.

You’ll Maintain Your Motivation

It’s all too easy to quit forever when you fail to get a part or you make a fool of yourself during an audition.  However, that’s the time when you need to remember why you’re trying and why you still haven’t given up.  Going back for new auditions keeps the dream alive no matter how hopeless it feels.

There are a few auditions you might have to turn down if you don’t match the right age or gender for a specific role.  Still, if you have even a slight chance of getting the part, go to the audition.  We’re happy to give everyone a chance at the Multicultural Arts Exchange in Philadelphia, PA, so hone your skills, meet new people, and come audition.
